Beijing has rebuked US president Donald Trump’s recently proposal to implement 100 per cent tariffs on Chinese exports, warning that it will take rigid countermeasures if the United States proceeds. The Chinese Commerce Ministry condemned Washington of boarding trade tensions and undermining equilibrium of global economic .

While US officials have yet to respond to Beijing’s latest comments, analysts suggest the coming weeks will determine whether the fragile trade détente can hold or if a new round of economic confrontation is inevitable.
