202 Tonnes of Indian Onions Enter Bangladesh via Bhomra Port

Bangladesh has received another shipment of onions from India as imports resumed through the Bhomra land port in Satkhira after more than four months of suspension.
Seven trucks carrying 202 metric tonnes of onions entered Bangladesh through the port on Sunday. This consignment was imported by M/s Ayon Traders and several more trucks are awaiting clearance at India’s Ghojadanga land port, said by general secretary of the bhamra C& F Agents Association.
The previous import of onions through this route took place on March 27 confirmed by Md Shawkat Hossain, assistant commissioner of Bhomra Customs.
After announcing, Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin announced on August 12 that onions would again be brought in from India to help stabilise domestic market prices.
