Just now, no plan to increase Gas price: Finance Adviser

The government has assured that there is no recent plan to raise gas prices, prioritizing smooth supply and stable pressure of natural gas for consumers, said Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.

While briefing reporters after chairing meetings of the Advisory Council on Government Purchase and the Advisory Council on Economic Affairs at the Secretariat. He utters that any decision to revise gas prices would be considered carefully, keeping in mind its potential impact on businesses and consumers.

At that meeting, the purchase committee approved a proposal to buy three LNG cargoes from the spot market at a cost of TK 14.42 billion. The prices of LNG have been set between $11.34 and $11.54 per MMBtu, with UK-based Total Energies Gas & Power Ltd. supplying the consignments. However, the Advisory Council on Economic Affairs approved a proposal to sell land belonging to Latif Bawani Jute Mills at Dhaka.

Meanwhile, Three other proposals which is including two by the Youth and Sports Ministry for organizing a national youth festival and another one by Bangladesh Railway for upgrading its hospital, are under the PPP model.
