Govt Permits Tk 2,000cr LNG and Fertiliser Imports to normalize Supply

However , the CCGP approved the import of 20,000 tonnes of phosphoric acid from Sun International FZE of the UAE for DAP Fertiliser Company Ltd under BCIC at a cost of Tk 191 crore. To strengthen urea reserves, 30,000 tonnes of granular urea will also be procured from Karnaphuli Fertiliser Company Ltd for TK 174 crore.

The CCGP cleared a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division to purchase one cargo of LNG from Total Energies Gas & Power Ltd, today in the meeting. At United Kingdom, cost of Tk 485 crore. The cargo will be procured at a unit price of $11.54 per MMBtu to ensure an uninterrupted energy supply.

At the meeting the board approved many major fertiliser import proposals under the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) and the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC). Within 40,000 tonnes of diammonium phosphate (DAP) will be buy from MA'ADEN of Saudi Arabia for Tk 390 crore, while 35,000 tonnes of muriate of potash (MOP) will be imported from JSC of Russia for Tk 155 core.

Moreover , 30,000 tonnes (TSP) will come from OCP Nutricrops of Morocco at Tk 215 crore, and other 40,000 tonnes of DAP will be brought in from Banyan International Trading Ltd of China for Tk 389 crore.
