Operations of Benapole Trade Reopen Sunday.

Import and export between Bangladesh and India through the Benapole land port remained off for the last two days due to the weekly holiday and the public holiday marking the Holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, which cause allocation cross border trade flow.

Emdadul Haque Lota, general secretary of the Benapole Clearing and Forwarding (C&F) Agents Association, added that trade with India was totally inactive on Friday due to the weekly holiday, while all customs and port-related services remained closed on Saturday in observance of Eid-e-Miladunnabi. He assumed that “Regular trading operations will restart on Sunday morning,”
Benapole Port Authority Director Shamim Hossain confirmed that while cargo handling and customs operations were stopped, arrangements were made to return empty, Indian trucks that had previously unloaded goods at the port.
According to port data , al most 300 trucks goods from India enter Bangladesh daily through Benapole, while pretending 80 trucks depart with export shipments to India.
