Biman takes off with record earnings in FY25

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has declared its record amount of profit Tk 937 crore in this fiscal year 2024-25, marking a milestone in its 55 year journey. The remarkable achievement comes due to strong passenger demand, tight financial discipline, and improved customer service.
During this Fiscal year , the national carrier transported over 34 lakh passengers and nearly 44,000 tonnes of cargo,maintaining an 82 percent cabin factor a clear rise from last year. In addition, On January 2025, also set a new dimension for ticket sales. Officials said that, faster baggage handling, enhanced in-flight experiences, and streamlined airport procedures played a key role in building passenger trust.
Biman attributed the record profit to reforms introduced by its new management under the interim government. The airline said stricter cost control, efficient use of resources, and quicker decision-making helped turn performance around.
However, aviation analyst ATM Nazrul Islam said that while the profit is impressive, more transparency is needed on outstanding dues and liabilities. He also pointed to possible obligations of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC).
