Ube Buzz Grows Globally, In View of Online Popularity

A purple colour yam native to the Philippines, known as Ube is creating new business opportunities along with any unanticipated challenges. It happened due to global trend, in favour of popularity on the internet.

A 31-year-old entrepreneurs named Jeffrey Cesari,  from Paris at present he  set out to launch an ube-based drink. After finding an ube latte at a café in Istanbul. He planned to introduce a similar product in France. Which inspired him from Istanbul 

Meanwhile , Soon Cesari discovered that sourcing genuine ube was far from simple. With the ingredient gaining viral popularity in drinks and desserts, the global demand has risen ,It will be difficult  to ensure making high-quality supply .Online searches, including  social media group like  Facebook  and AI tools, produced uncertain results, with concerns over product authenticity and quality.

There are different varieties of ube, such as Baligonhon and Kinampay, which have multiple processed forms like powder and jam, further complicated the process. Moreover  there were also risks of exchange , where taro or purple sweet potato, being sold as real ube.

Last few month ago , Cesari travelled to the Philippines to find out supply chains. He also visits to local bakeries and wholesalers yielded and limited cooperation, as many were reluctant to express their sources. However,  with the help of family in there, he reached farmers on Bohol Island, near Cebu, where he will get a small monthly supply.

Cesari now target  to launch his product, Ube Signature Paris, by June, To bett on strong consumer interest. “There is big potential,” he said,  Other are also trying to enter in this market.

Experts of Industry in this sector said that the ube trend could rise agricultural exports from the Philippines, Moreover Experts said that  that ensuring product authenticity and stable supply chains will be critical if global demand continues to grow.
